Upcoming Events:
Volunteers Needed: On Saturday, May 2nd, we will have our annual Spring Cleaning at 10am. We are looking for the pressure washer, and need it to clean the pool deck. If anyone knows where it is, please call Mike Mudler. We could use more than one, and it would be much appreciated if someone bring one on Saturday.
Pool Opening: The pool is scheduled to open on May 9th. We had originally published a May 2nd opening, but had to push it back due to a maintenance problem. The pool had to be drained in order to install the new drains in the bottom to be compliant with new laws. Thanks go out to Monique Baker for organizing the pool party which starts at 4pm on the 9th!!!
We have hired a new pool company this summer, and are confident we will have excellent service this summer. Thanks go out to Kyle Farnham for his work finding a new company.
ACC: Homeside conducted an ACC review this past week and letters went out in the mail The board was all in agreement that too many of the homes have not kept up their yards, especially weeds.
Photographer’s Wanted: The pictures on the Hillbrooke Web site are out of date. Please email any pictures of Hillbrooke events to Matt Sabath, our web master. Matt will post them on our site.
Annual Dues: Currently, we have 44 outstanding dues this year which comes to $24,000. For those that paid on April 1st, the board agreed to wave the late fees.
Open Issues:
- Signs on Pool – Homeside is working on the new signs for the pool which explain the new hours of operation (a change has been made to close the pool at 11pm instead of midnight on weekends).
- Electrical work on the entrance – Paul agreed to work on this project and he will get quotes on a complete over-haul. The wiring shorts out on a regular basis and will probably need to be replaced. Also, all of the low voltage lights do not work any more and need to be replaced. We have replaced the low voltage lights on the island, but still need to bury the wires. This work will be done on Saturday during the ‘Spring Cleaning’.
- Door on the pump room needs to be replaced.
- Roof on the Pavilion – needs to be replaced. Agreed that it can wait until after the pool closes in the fall. One quote we received to replace the roof with wood shingles, like the existing roof, came to $17,000.
- Discussed the Reserve Study (completed in 2001) – Discussed the issue of updating the study which could provide a 5 year plan on neighborhood improvements. The previous boards have used the document to direct improvements over the years, and most of the recommendations have been completed.
- Internet at the pool – Jamie Collins agreed to take on this project.
- Fence on Abbots Bridge – needs to be replaced.
- Recycle Bins for the Pool.
- Neighborhood Committee’s:
- Pool –Kyle Farham and Steve Hoffmann
- Social – adult – Eric Logan
- Social – children – Cori McKay
- ACC – Jenny Farham and Jenny Callow
- Welcoming – we need a volunteer
- News Letter – the board has agreed to bring back the paper version of the quarterly newsletter which we hope will improve the communication between the board and the neighborhood. We are looking for volunteers to help with this effort.
- Web Site – Matt Sabath
- Pavilion – Mary Kathryn McCullars - agreed that we will maintain the policy of not loaning out tables and chairs.
Next Meeting: Sunday, May 17th at 7:30 pm at Julie Johnson’s house |
